Here is the realty info page for the house. And here is a link to it on google maps. I know! it's like a real, giant, grown-up house! But for supercheap. We just need to paint, clean the carpets, seal the deck, fix up some insulation in the attic, and tack up a few gutters and it's good as new. The house is so awesome that we never expected the bank to take our offer, since there were 3 others in at the same time. We close on February 21. So this is what much of our time has been spent doing. We're both working long hours too, and Kyle visited this past weekend, but I don't have time for those updates right now. Man, here's the problem with major events like this: We did lots of stuff, so it's a mental barrier to come write about it because I don't want to leave things out. So when I finally DO get around to typing, I've forgotten everything. I certainly don't remember the timeline. Therefore, I'm going to list a random set of events that I can remember: We 'experimented' with liquid nitrogen again this year. We tried launching some more stuff from a tube, but had some complications. Often still entertaining though. I also brought home a semi-defective microwave that was going to be thrown out at work. We put various objects in it to see what would happen when they are microwaved. Conclusions: CDs are always pretty, but lots of people have done that before. Dad's ink pen turned out unexpectedly cool when it made a huge tower of flame and melted, spewing ink all over. Any sort of circuit boards are fabulously for making sparks (due to the not-touching-but-nearby metal components. (In this case it was kyle's broken laptop wifi card). Fruits with rinds DO pop, but not violently, much to my disappointment. The most awesomest things, however, had to be little glass bottles of perfume samples. You must make sure to duct tape the tops on tightly first, however. The best one was one that had been going for several minutes, so we had just given up home when WHOOOM! There's an explosion and a giant ball of fire that fills the whole microwave. Upon inspection, it had actually blown the outer case of the microwave off a bit. Fantastic. Recurring themes of the break include cards, movies, and chocolate martinis (thanks, dad!). Movies watched include: Golden Compass, I Am Legend, and Idiocracy. Probably others. On xmas day, when we thought we had opened all our presents, we found that mom had apparently hidden tons of others in various drawers and crannies in the house that I had never paid attention to. We then had to choose whether to exchange one of the gifts we had for a gift because one of the mystery doors several times. This is very stressful! Only later did I learn that most was fake gifts (like the one I got with the 2 pound barbell from upstairs in it; how did you know I would choose based on density??) and we got to keep the real ones among them anyway. Fun times though! Oh we played a lot of ping pong too. Over break I easily played more ping pong that in the rest of my life combined. Oh and I got Mario Party 8 for the Wii with a Best Buy gift card, hoping it was something the family could get together and enjoy since it's pretty simple. Neither sets of parents were too interested in that, however. We still played it a lot at both houses though. Oh we brought the dog home and she got to meet Amy's (Emily's sister) little dog. They got along well and Roxy was thrilled to have another dog to play with. Unfortunately, Roxy is many times bigger than the little Pomeranian and the pitbull half of her likes to play rough, which was quite scary for the little guy. Ohgod I'm truly going insane in here now. Family members: Please post the events which I've forgotten so they can be recorded for posterity. Only....two....slides....left... |
